Key responsibilities of the Technical Lead
1. Business Alignment:
- Ensure the technology strategy is aligned with the business goals and supports the growth and success of the company
- Work closely with the CEO, who is non-technical, to ensure that technology decisions are informed by the business strategy and budget
2. Technology Strategy and Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with our business goals and supports the growth and success of our company
- Oversee the development of AI-based medical imaging solutions, ensuring that they are designed and implemented to meet the stakeholder requirements. Oversee the development and maintenance of the company’s technology infrastructure, including hardware and software
3. Clinical Partnership and Regulatory Compliance:
- Collaborate with clinical partners to acquire data, as well as design and implement AI-based medical imaging solutions that meet regulatory requirements and support the safe and effective use of our products
- Form strong partnerships with clinical partners to support the successful execution of clinical trials
- Ensure the technology systems are validated and compliant with relevant regulations and standards for AI-based medical imaging
4. Team Management:
- Lead a team of developers and other technology professionals to design, build, and maintain the company’s AI-based medical imaging platform and non-AI technologies
- Set goals and performance expectations for the technology team and oversee the day-to-day operations of the team
5. Knowledge Management and Documentation:
- Implement effective knowledge management processes and documentation to ensure the company’s technical knowledge is captured, shared, and preserved for future use
6. Industry Awareness:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the AI-based medical imaging sector
- Attend industry events and conferences and maintain a strong network of contacts in the industry to help inform technology strategy and decision-making.
7. Product design and development
- Define and prioritize product requirements based on user feedback, market trends, and business goals
- Contribute to the product roadmap, shaping the direction of our product development efforts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative medical technology products
- Drive the development of high-quality, scalable, and performant products that meet the highest regulatory and safety standards
8. Grants and Project Management:
- Involvement in writing and managing grants for funding and research, working closely with the team to ensure the successful application and management of grant funds.
- Project development skills including resourcing, costing, timelines, risk register, work packages
- Project management skills, to time and to budget
- Background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices, with a focus on AI-based solutions
- Experience in leading teams of software developers and other technology professionals
- Highly familiar with the latest AI and medical imaging trends and innovations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage technology vendors and contractors
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Experience in the healthcare industry and a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements for AI-based medical devices and clinical trials
- Strong background in AI and medical imaging, with a proven track record of delivering successful AI-based solutions
